    Travel to Istria

    Arriving by car

If you are arriving in Istria from the western direction, Slovenia, you will cross the border on one of the three road border crossings; Plovanija-Sečovlje, Kaštel-Dragonja or Požane-Sočerga. For your pleasant journey through Istria, you have at your disposal the semi-highway 'Istrian Y', taking you to central Istria and to the southernmost parts of the peninsula, only 100 km away from the border. Arriving to 'Istrian Y' from the eastern direction, using the Croatian highways from Zagreb or Split to Rijeka, after crossing the Učka tunnel, you will quickly reach your final destination.

  • Istria Guide – All you need to know

Istria Guide – All you need to know

The Istrian peninsula has for decades been one of the most successful holiday destinations in Croatia. During the last 10 years the majority of the hotels have been renovated, camp sites and private accommodation are upgraded as well as the facilities. There is no doubt that Istria will attract tourist in the years to come.

I personally like Istria a lot. During the last 5 years I have travelled in Istria for several times a year. I mostly travel to Istria because of work but when possible I have also spent my holiday there with the family. During the numerous visits I have more or less seen all roads and cities in Istria, most camps and quite a few hotels. That is the main reason why I decided to make a small guide through the cities and the main sites of Istria.

  • The best nudist or naturist beaches in Istria

The best nudist or naturist beaches in Istria

Istria’s peninsula has been an attractive nudist or naturist destination for five decades. Today there are many official naturist campsites, tourist villages, beaches and numerous unofficial (wild) naturist bathing places.
Naturism is well accepted all along Istria’s peninsula coast. There are official naturist beaches mostly within naturist resorts and camping sites. Sometimes there are special areas assigned for naturists in a plain holiday resorts. Entrance to such places is mostly charged.
There are so called free beaches, which are known to be naturist for many years, but not officially. These places are mostly clothing optional. And finally there are wild beaches where one can freely choose to be bare or to keep swimming with a suit on.
The point is you can choose by yourself and don't have to worry about any persecution.
Istria’s peninsula nudist or naturist beaches are marked with signs "FKK" (Freikorperkultur – german: Free Body Culture). Unofficial beaches are sometimes called free beaches. Croatia's naturist facilities often focus on different visitor categories, including families, adults, gays, and those where everyone is welcome. more... Rovinj accommodation    Porec Accommodation
