Poreč Handball Cup 2009
The town of Porec will host, and Valamar will sponsor, the international Porec Handball Cup, which will be held from 28 to 30 August in the town’s Zatika sports hall. Croatian champion RK CO Zagreb handball club led by the world’s best handball player Ivano Balic will participate in the tournament, as well as the German VFL Gummersbach club, the winner of this year’s EHP Cup, the Slovenian vice-champion RK Cimos Koper and the Macedonian RK Metalurg led by Lino Cervar. International Handball Tournament Poreč Handball Cup is a joint project of Sono grupa from Poreč as organizers, and HC Croatia Osiguranje from Zagreb as a tournament partner.
Poreč is a perfect place for a major international tournament, because in the near past it has organised many great sporting events, from the World Handball Championship to three rounds of Davis Cup.
From this year, Poreč will surely become one of the most important centers of the world handball.
